NEWTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has released the identities of the 43 people arrested in a raid on an alleged dogfighting ring.
All but two of the 43 suspects have bonded out of jail as of Monday evening.
According to the NCSO, on Saturday the sheriff’s office along with several other law enforcement agencies raided an active dog‑fighting operation off of FM 1004 in the Call community.
The sheriff’s office initially said 45 people had been arrested; however, they have since corrected the number to 43.
Authorities seized around $73,858 in U.S. currency, towed an estimated 40 vehicles from the property and seized two dogs who were actively fighting at the time of the raid.
