An auto repair shop that’s more than 50 years old and owned by a Cumberland County volunteer firefighter’s family was destroyed in a fire last week.
All of the Bretzman’s Garage employees were able to escape when the fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Stuart Street shop in Mount Holly Springs. The shop, however, was a loss, according to a GoFundMe created to help the Bretzman family .
A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal ruled the blaze an accident that started from the garage’s wood stove chimney.
The garage was passed down several years ago to Justin Bretzman, a volunteer firefighter whose grandfather, Ivan Bretzman, started the business more than five decades ago.
The GoFundMe said the garage offered auto repair services and antique fire apparatus restoration.
