LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Veteran Center in Lufkin hosted their first Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday.

Veterans had the opportunity to enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal while being able to talk to like-minded individuals and share stories.

The director of the center said that the event served two purposes: one is to thank veterans and their families and the other is for veterans to get together.

For veterans that weren’t able to attend the Thanksgiving meal, a Christmas event will be held on Dec. 23 at the center.

The center offers mental health counseling, support groups and care coordination for veterans, service members and their families.
