The new Youngstown High School is school board approval away from joining a new athletic conference.
Per Tuesday's agenda, the board will consider joining the United Athletic Conference consisting of Bedford City, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, South Euclid- Lyndhurst, and Warrensville Heights.
For now the new conference will be for football and boys & girls basketball only.
As part of the same resolution the board will be asked to contribute 5-thousand dollars this initial year to support start up costs.
If approved, Youngstown will begin competing in the UAC in the fall of the 2026-27 school year
