CLEVELAND, Ohio — During November, the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals hosted community giveaways to ensure those in need could enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
More than 4,000 families received meals or grocery gift cards through events held at multiple sites, the health systems said in a joint news release.
The annual Thanksgiving giveaways addressed social drivers of health by increasing access to nutritious food across Northeast Ohio, the Clinic and UH said.
On Nov. 22, the Clinic prepared and delivered turkey dinners to people in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, East Cleveland and Lodi.
“This collaborative effort reflects our shared commitment to caring beyond the walls of our hospitals,” said Dr. Monica Yepes-Rios, medical director for Cleveland Clinic’s Community Health and Food
