Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said state regulators are under political pressure to sign off on DTE Energy contracts to power a massive data center facility planned for Saline Township without public scrutiny of the utility company's agreement with developers.

The Detroit-based utility has asked the Michigan Public Service Commission to approve its contract to provide an initial 1.4 gigawatts of power to the developers of the proposed data center campus, slated to begin construction early next year. Nessel's office has requested the MPSC, which is tasked with regulating utility companies in Michigan , to open a contested case in the matter and allow expert witness testimony and evidence discovery.
