COLUMBUS, Ohio — The newest baby elephant at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium needs a name and you can be part of choosing it.

Born on Oct. 21, 2025, he’s the second elephant calf to arrive this year, marking an historic milestone for the zoo. The new baby joins little Rita Jean Wolfe , named in honor of a beloved member of the Wolfe family who passed away last year.

Zoo officials put out a call for name suggestions after the new baby elephant’s birth, ultimately receiving more than 11,000.

That long list has been narrowed down to four names by the elephant care team:

Frederick

Oliver (Ollie)

Ozzy

Theodore (Theo)

Voting has begun and will continue through Dec. 1 at noon. His name will be announced on Dec. 2.
