MIDDLETOWN — Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. has been announced as the official tree lighter for the 13th Annual Middletown Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday.

Rodriguez, the Commanders' 2023 sixth-round draft pick, is currently having his best season as a pro with career highs in rushing yards (279), carries (60), and touchdowns (3). He'll be taking a break from his on-field duties to spread Christmas cheer alongside Santa, town residents and visitors during Friday's ceremony.

Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh IV said in a press release Tuesday that he's thankful that Rodriguez will be able to help the town kick off the holiday season.
