Accused Saenger Theatre shooter Marcus Sanders will remain in Metro Jail after a Mobile County judge denied his request for bond. A grand jury has not yet determined whether Sanders will be tried for capital murder for the death of Carl Williams III.

More than one month after Sanders’ attorney, Chase Dearman, and Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Madison Davis argued for and against releasing Sanders, Mobile County Circuit Court Judge Jay York sided with prosecutors Tuesday, Nov. 25, and ordered the 28-year-old to remain behind bars. Sanders allegedly shot and killed Williams during a children’s dance recital at the Saenger Theatre in June, firing in the direction of the stage while children were on it.
