Coventry City extended their lead at the top of the Championship to ten points with a thumping 4-2 victory at second placed Middlesbrough.

The Sky Blues raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 14 minutes but the home side battled back to reduce the deficit just past the half hour mark before an own goal handed them the equaliser early in the second period of a pulsating top-of-the-table clash at the Riverside.

But two late goals in the space of two minutes took the game away from the home side to secure a sensational away win on Teesside.

Ellis Simms scored with a superb first time shot to give City the tenth minute lead against the run of early play as Boro got into the visitors from the first whistle.

Liam Kitching then doubled the lead in the 14th with a brilliantly directed header
