SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Unity Gardens and Cultivate Food Rescue partnered up to distribute Thanksgiving meal packages on Tuesday.
They are giving out 175 meal bags that can feed a family of six.
In those food bags are aluminum tins of turkey, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
It also comes with pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, and some bread rolls.
They started passing out the food at 4 p.m. to people who signed up in advance.
“People are really grateful. It’s an act of joy and sharing to be able to be here and see all these families who would’ve had to, and stress over providing this meal or just not celebrate the holiday in general,” said Selina Alcantar the youth program and events coordinator for Unity Gardens.
