GOLD CANYON, AZ (AZFamily) — A section of a busy highway in Pinal County is closed due to a law enforcement situation on Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly after 3 p.m., ADOT announced that U.S. 60 was closed in both directions due to an incident near milepost 201 in the Gold Canyon area. The eastbound lanes have since reopened, but westbound traffic remains closed between Mountain View Road and Superstition Mountain Drive.
Aerial video from the AZFamily news chopper shows numerous unmarked law enforcement and two armored vehicles focusing on a dark-colored pickup truck with a camper shell. Mesa PD patrol SUVs were also on the scene.
Drivers should expect delays, and there’s no indication of how long the westbound lanes will be closed. Other information was not immediately available.
