PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona’s top prosecutor has joined another multi-state lawsuit to challenge the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s changes on how federal funding for the homeless can be spent.

State Attorney General Kris Mayes and 19 other states and the District of Columbia, claiming that the cuts and new conditions will lead to more homeless people because they limit access to long-term housing and services for tens of thousands of Americans.

The states also claim the Continuum of Care Program was changed without congressional authorization.
