BALTIMORE —

As the season of giving nears, Mercy Medical Center teams spent Tuesday giving back.

They went to Helping Up Mission in Baltimore to distribute free shoes and socks — all of which were donated by Dick's Sporting Goods.

The footwear was just part of the day, though. The doctors also provided free health exams to the men at Helping Up Mission.

"Some patients, when they sit down, they don't really have too many issues, but they are so thankful and grateful to be receiving a new pair of shoes and socks, which we all just take for granted. But others come in and sit down, and they've got real issues. They need help. We might not be able to do all of it today, but we can give them a lot of insight into where to go or how to seek out help," said Rebecca Cerrato with the Institute
