ROCKLAND, Maine (WMTW) - 8 Investigates obtained a crash report that provides new insight into the moments before 12-year-old Brayden Callahan was hit and killed just down the street from his home.
The report reveals that on Nov. 21, Callahan had just exited the bus and was starting to cross at the crosswalk when bus driver Jeffrey Colburn pulled into the street, and ran him over first with the front passenger tire and again with the rear passenger tire.
The report clearly states that Callahan didn’t do anything wrong.
Colburn told investigators that he “simply didn’t see him.”
Officials reviewed camera footage from inside the bus and found that the crossing arm wasn’t deployed. Colburn was leaning too far to the right to keep his eyes on the road.
