LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Saluting Heroes has spotlighted a vast array of organizations out there helping veterans over the years, so much so that one would expect former servicemembers and their families to have a powerful voice when they need help from the state.

It turns out that's not necessarily the case, largely because there's a big difference between helping vets and writing laws that help vets.

However, the Arkansas Veterans Coalition has set out to change that.

"Our leader, Mark Diggs, suggested that we do a better job organizing, and come together and find out what was needed in the state of Arkansas at the state level," said Col. Harold Tucker (Ret.), who spends his retirement mentoring students in junior ROTC programs.
