PORTLAND, Ore. — In Beaverton, Lisa Stiller leads a community fight for change.
"We've been out protesting a lot of the things that are going on," Stiller said. "Our goal is to educate voters so when election time comes, they make a wise choice."
A leader for the Beaverton chapter of the progressive group Indivisible, Stiller helps organize protests on political and social issues. Most recently, that's centered on rising health care costs .
In budget bills championed by Republicans in Congress, lawmakers have thus far allowed for the expiration of pandemic-era Affordable Care Act subsidies. That will take effect with the new year, meaning health insurance bills will soon spike for many Americans.
