BEAUMONT, Texas — Hundreds of families in need were able to receive free Thanksgiving meals during Some Other Place’s annual Thanksgiving distribution, where more than 430 families signed up for the program and received food and turkey vouchers to help provide holiday meals.
Families were able to take home a variety of items, including stuffing mix, cranberry sauce and desserts. Each household also received a “turkey voucher” for a free turkey from H-E-B.
Some Other Place also distributed produce items such as vegetables, fruits and eggs, expanding the resources available to families preparing for the holiday.
Kaitlin McCarter, special projects director for the nonprofit, said the effort requires months of preparation and coordination.
