The National Weather Service released a lake effect snow warning at 12:59 a.m. on Wednesday valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 p.m. for Southeastern St. Lawrence.
The weather service comments, "Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 to 40 mph."
"Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult.
