MURRAY – After an assault was reported at a fraternity house off Murray State University’s campus over the weekend, a separate but similar incident was also reported, MSU said Monday night.

The Murray Police Department said in a news release Monday morning that officers responded to a fraternity house – identified by MSU as the Pi Kappa Alpha house – around 12:57 a.m. Saturday in response to a fight that involved a firearm. Upon arrival, officers observed an individual with injuries who was transported to the hospital. Early investigation showed that a small number of individuals began to strike the victim, including one suspect who used a firearm to strike the victim, MPD said. The suspects left the area prior to officers’ arrival, and MPD is continuing to investigate, the release said
