A BBC legend who brought shows like Bagpuss and The Clangers to our screens was found dead in his shed aged just 61, after a devastating split from his partner of 35 years. Daniel Postgate was the son of Bagpuss co-creator Oliver Postgate, and together they helped to launch a new era of children’s TV to the BBC.

Sadly Daniel was found dead in a shed at his home in Whistable in June this year after taking his own life. With a history of depression and anxiety, Daniel had also been battling blood cancer. He received chemotherapy for the condition in 2019, but a letter he received the day before his death brought anxieties about his health to the forefront.
