A firm friend of Queen Camilla's, Lady Amabel Lindsay – daughter of the 9th Earl of Hardwicke and a much-loved socialite of the Swinging Sixties – has died at the age of 90. Wife of the late Hon Patrick Lindsay, who was a director of the auction house , Christie's, Lady Amabel leaves behind four children (Laura, Ludovic, James and Valentine) as well as an impressive legacy.

A particularly glamorous aristocrat who rubbed shoulders with royals , artists and grandees, Lady Amabel counted Queen Camilla as a close confidante. The pair were even said to have shared a love interest in the distant past, in the form of Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles .
