COMMERCE, Ga. — University of Georgia football player Nyier Daniels was dismissed from the team by head coach Kirby Smart on Monday after the backup offensive lineman was arrested on Sunday after police said he and his mom led officers on dual 100+ mph chases through a nearby town.

Daniels is facing felony charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and two counts of second-degree cruelty to children.

He is alleged in unofficial police reports to have been going 100 mph in a 25 mph zone, leading to a chase on Sunday. At one point, he allegedly reached 150 mph on I-85. He was charged with child cruelty because his younger siblings were in the car, a 2022 white BMW M5, according to a police incident report.
