CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. — Alabama state investigators are probing a deadly shooting involving an officer on Sunday after law enforcement officers attempting to arrest a wanted man exchanged gunfire with him, authorities said.
At the request of the Lanett Police Department, agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation launched an investigation into the shooting, which involved officers from both the Lanett and Auburn police departments. Both officers involved are also assigned to the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
Officers were attempting to take 27-year-old Jaja Davis Jr., of Lanett, into custody on a warrant for discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. The charge stemmed from an earlier incident in which Davis allegedly fired into a Lanett Police Depart
