Rachel Reeves' Budget has been mistakenly published after a blunder by the Office for Budget Responsibility. The OBR revealed income tax thresholds will be frozen for longer while national insurance will be charged on salary sacrifice pension contributions.
The two child benefit cap is also going to be scrapped. Other tax rises will be imposed on gambling, electric vehicles, as well as a council tax surcharge for high end properties.
Reeves will also retain the 5p cut in fuel duty until September 2026, when it will be reversed through a staggered approach.
According to the OBR, the UK’s economy will grow more slowly than predicted over the next four years. They forecast gross domestic product will grow by 1.5% this year, an increase from its earlier 1% forecast.
