Vanderbilt University has begun reshaping the western edge of its campus into a mixed-use innovation hub designed to attract cutting-edge research and business partnerships.

Vanderbilt has filed a Specific Plan District rezoning application with the Nashville Planning Department to redevelop 40 acres of underutilized space into a hub for research, collaboration and entrepreneurship.

The university hopes to build office and lab space next to retail, restaurants and new housing, if the rezoning is approved.
