Mother with ties to White House official’s family detained by ICE in Mass.

The mother of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s nephew has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Revere.

Bruna Caroline Ferreira, the mother of Leavitt’s 11-year-old nephew, was arrested near Boston on Nov. 12, her attorney, Todd Pomerleau, told CNN .

Ferreira was brought to the U.S. by her parents when she was a child in 1998, according to a GoFundMe .

“Since then, she has done everything in her power to build a stable, honest life here,” the GoFundMe reads.

Her tourist visa required her to leave the country in June 1999, the Department of Homeland Security told CNN, adding that she also “has a previous arrest for battery.”

However, Pomerleau told WCVB that Ferreira has no criminal record.
