ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting in Rocky Mount Wednesday morning.

At 1:30 a.m., Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of S. Franklin Street. Officers found two people with gunshot wounds.

One of them was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the other was taken to ECU Health for treatment.

This is an active investigation. More details will be released when available.
