LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Angel trees are a way for people in the community to adopt a child or senior in need and provide them with a Christmas they may not have otherwise received.
In Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties, Captain Jennifer Phillips said there has been an increased need for angel adoptions this year, with over 300 angels still needing to be adopted.
“The impact goes on and on. So I think it’s building a sense of community far more than what we even realize sometimes about how we can encourage each other, and help each other, and uplift each other,” Phillips said.
When you’re walking into your local Walmart or Sam’s Club, you may notice some Christmas trees with tags on them.
