PHOENIX — A man died and another was seriously injured after a shooting in central Phoenix on Tuesday night, according to the city's police department.

Around 10:06 p.m., police responded to a shots-fired call in the area of 19th and Roosevelt streets.

When officers arrived on the scene, two men were suffering from gunshot wounds, officials said. One of those men died, and the other was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a third man was involved, but he took off running before officials got to the scene.

A police lieutenant told 12News that the investigation is near an apartment complex. The scene is secured and was expected to be closed for an hour or so.
