Simon Cowell isn't shouldering the blame.

The former American Idol judge broke his silence on claims from some of Liam Payne ’s fans, suggesting Simon not providing enough support for the late singer and his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles , Zayn Malik , Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson ultimately contributed to his death.

"I don’t read any of this stuff because if I did, you would just torture yourself," Simon said on the Nov. 24 episode of the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast . "The idea that you are essentially responsible for somebody’s life, 10 years after you’ve signed someone? You can’t do that."
