SPOKANE, Wash.-- If you were waiting for winter in the Spokane area, the wait is over. Many of us woke up to snow on Wednesday morning after a snowy Tuesday night around the Inland Northwest.

The National Weather Service recorded half an inch of snow before midnight, making our official first day of snow for this season, November 25th. That's the latest start to snow season since 2008, when it didn't snow until November 28th.

Does this late first snow tell us anything about how our winter is going to go? No.

2008 started late but turned out to be the snowiest winter on record for Spokane. Snow has first fallen far earlier in the year and finished well below average many times. There's no way to really know what the rest of the winter holds, just that it will be colder to start December,
