EDMOND — Shoppers who are intentional about buying in Edmond to support local merchants also help the city government provide services to residents through sales taxes.

Sales tax collections for the first four months of the fiscal year are down 1.16% from the previous year, City Manager A.J. Krieger said in his first public report to the City Council since stepping into the role on Nov. 10.

“Although there is some good news on the horizon because November is going to show an increase,” Krieger said during the Nov. 24 City Council meeting.

Use tax collections from July through October are down 1.51%. Revenue
