A nonprofit that uses investigative genetic genealogy to ascertain previously unidentified victims in cold cases has made a discovery in a case out of La Vergne from nearly 20 years ago.

The DNA Doe Project on Nov. 25 revealed that the body of a woman found in the Nashville suburb in 2007 belonged to 40-year-old Mary Alice Maloney, a Connecticut native who’d been living in the Nashville area prior to her disappearance.
