Just over two years after making a position switch from quarterback, Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers is one of three finalists for an award given to the best tight end in college football.
The graduate student was Tuesday named a finalist for the John Mackey Award, joined by Baylor’s Michael Trigg and Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq.
The winner will be announced Dec. 12 during the College Football Awards show.
Stowers will have another opportunity to showcase his talents when No. 12 Vanderbilt (9-2, 5-2) plays at No. 18 Tennessee (8-3, 4-3) on Saturday (2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN).
But the 6-4, 235-pound Stowers has already turned up his production coming down the stretch.
