A lake effect snow warning was released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:01 p.m. valid from Friday 1 a.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. for Herkimer County.
"Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations as high as 6 to 9 inches in the most persistent lake effect bands. Wind gusts as high as 35 mph," describes the weather service. "The lake effect band is expected to drop south into southern Herkimer County late Thursday night or Friday morning. It will then settle near or south of the Thruway Friday afternoon and night."
