MUSKEGON, MI - As part of a six-hour-plus commission meeting, Muskegon’s city manager gave an updated draft of a proposed waterfront land swap that has been debated for months.
The proposed development agreement between the city and West Michigan Dock and Market Corporation (Mart Dock) would see the swap of two properties and a plan for a third, adjacent property to be acquired.
Mart Dock would lease, with an option to purchase, most of Fisherman’s Landing, a city-owned park at 501 E. Western Ave. on Muskegon Lake. The campground that’s currently there would close after 2026 and port operations currently near downtown would move further east to the park site.
