KALAMAZOO, MI — Closure of the Michigan News Agency has left a hole in the Kalamazoo community since owner Dean Hauck died at age 85 in February.

Property owner Kalamazoo Forward Ventures (KzFV), a Black-founded investment fund, purchased the building at 308 W. Michigan Ave. and everything in it for $515,000 in July, per public records.

The new owners planned three days for the shuttered storefront to reopen, selling off items for 50%. The first was Nov. 22 after the downtown holiday parade.

There’s plenty of merchandise left to sell on Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
