SOUTH HURON – South Huron council at its Nov. 17 meeting approved the installation of a sanitary sewer force main along Thames Road West in response to potential development in the area west of Exeter.

The matter was previously discussed by council in October, when building and planning services director Mike Rolph presented a report indicating staff had received development proposals for properties along Thames Road West.

Rolph returned to council Nov. 17 with a preliminary design and cost estimate from engineers B.M. Ross of $243,200. The project will be initially funded by the municipality’s sewer capital replacement reserves, but the municipality will recover the full cost of the project from the benefiting property owners through a cost-recovery bylaw.
