Arrested at RIDE
On Nov. 12 at approximately 11:40 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) at the intersection of Toronto Street and Highland Drive in Grey Highlands. A vehicle entered the checkpoint where police then spoke with the driver. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported for further testing. A 33-year-old Shelburne man was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – BAC 80 plus. A 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Dec. 4.
