Bruce County has approved its 2026 capital and operating budget with a 4.37 per cent levy increase.
At its meeting on Thursday, county council passed its budget, which will see the average household with a median assessed value of $240,000 experience an annual increase of $55 in tax assessment.

Going into Thursday’s meeting the budget levy increase sat at 4.77 per cent, but after some councillors expressed a desire to find more savings, council voted in favour of eliminating three proposed full-time positions, resulting in a reduction of more than $290,000.
During Thursday’s meeting, Bruce County warden and Saugeen Shores mayor Luke Charbonneau said the county has a responsibility to maintain and support its infrastructure, and that comes with a cost.
