Rachel Reeves has announced an end to the hugely controversial two-child benefit cap as part of today's Autumn Budget.

The two-child benefit cap limits the amount of children parents can seek universal credit for. Under the cap parents were restricted to receiving universal credit support for two children, meaning families were unable to claim the support for a third child.

Since being introduced by Conservative chancellor George Osborne the cap has proved to be divisive, with some agreeing with the restriction while others suggest a lift of the cap would pull thousands of children in the UK out of poverty. Following today's announcement by the Chancellor, debate surrounding the change appears to already be rife.
