ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — An Atlanta antiques appraiser made $20 million selling fakes to a Florida museum, according to a lawsuit filed by the museum.

A lawsuit filed by Beaux Arts Museum alleges that Allan Baitcher sold multiple counterfeit pieces of art to the museum between 2014 and 2024.

Baitcher allegedly told the museum, run by a lifelong friend, that he had a connection with the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the fictitious Kowloon Heritage Museum. He told Beaux Arts Museum that he could acquire antiques from the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Kowloon Heritage Museum at a “reduced price,” according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit states the Beaux Arts Museum acquired “several thousand pieces of artwork” through Baitcher between 2014 and 2024.
