NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk man pleaded guilty last month to child abuse and neglect as well as child cruelty after being suspected of shaking and injuring his 6-week-old son last year.

On Nov. 16, 2024, William Robert Lee Jr., 28, took his son to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters at about 3 p.m. that day after he noticed the baby was having seizures and was cold to the touch, according to a press release from the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Doctors found the baby had bleeding within the skull and believed it began that afternoon. That was during the time Lee was alone with the baby while his wife was out of the house. The child also had a broken leg.

During an investigation, Lee and his wife said they had sought treatment for the baby at a different hospital on Nov.
