PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman wrongly accused of bringing a box cutter to a Phoenix high school said she has faced three months of harassment and calls for her resignation from a school board position over a case of mistaken identity.
Cassandra Hernandez said she’s been the target of harassment and scrutiny all over something she didn’t even do. “My community thinks I’m a criminal,” said Hernandez.
In August, she was accused of bringing a box cutter onto the Maryvale High School campus. “I had teachers messaging me, former teachers from Phoenix Union belittling me, talking down to me. I broke down, I cried,” said Hernandez.
The Phoenix Union High School District (PXU) initially identified her as the woman who accompanied state Rep. Lydia Hernandez to Maryvale High School on Aug. 25.
