WASHINGTON D.C. – Two West Virginia National Guard members who were shot near the White House on Wednesday are reportedly in critical condition following the incident.

NBC News reported that authorities identified the suspect as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who was last known to reside in Bellingham, Washington.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more information about the suspect and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
