When Weequahic defeated state final-bound Shabazz last year in their annual Thanksgiving Day Soul Bowl clash, it was “like” a championship for an Indians squad that had been eliminated weeks earlier in the playoffs.
This year, there would be no quotation marks required should Weequahic pull off what would be considered another upset against a 19th-ranked Shabazz squad headed to the NJSIAA/Ifinity Group 2 state final for a second straight year.
“This is a conference championship, so it’s winner takes all as far as I’m concerned,” said Weequahic head coach Brian Logan.
