PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland pizza cart is closed after its co-owner and head chef was denied re-entry to the U.S. after traveling to Mexico for what was expected to be his final immigration interview to gain permanent residency, according to the chef's family.
Roberto Hernandez Guerrero, who has lived in America for more than 20 years and spent the last six years working toward legal status, remains stuck in his birth country while his family and the Portland community rally to support his case.
Reeva Café y Cocina, the pizza cart located on Sandy Boulevard in the Roseway neighborhood of Northeast Portland, is closed indefinitely in the chef's absence.
Hernandez Guerrero, an undocumented immigrant, applied for legal status after getting married in 2019, according to his son Demian Herna
