VANCOUVER, Wash. — Several nonprofit organizations in Clark County are partnering to provide rental assistance to families whose primary wage earner has been detained or deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The program, spearheaded by the Southwest Washington League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council , is aimed at preventing homelessness among households suddenly left with reduced income due to the loss of their head of household.
“I want to say that this is a tragedy that's happening in our community, and we wanted to be able to financially assist," said Sesany Fennie-Jones, the CEO for Council for the Homeless.
Council for the Homeless is also financially supporting the effort, allocating $50,000 from their budget.
