A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Wednesday at 10:03 p.m. for strong winds until Thursday at 2 a.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.
"The passage of a cold front tonight will allow for increasing west winds. Isolated gusts to around 45 mph will be possible at times, especially right after the frontal passage. This could produce localized travel difficulties, as well as a few downed tree limbs," explains the weather service.
